Certification in Mexico is based on the specifications of an FCC certification
The market approval for products with wireless technologies in Mexico is issued by the responsible authority Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) and thus gives manufacturers the opportunity to market their products in Mexico.
Mexico’s market approval is strongly influenced by the FCC’s requirements, so that a large number of the test results and certificates required for FCC certification in the United States are recognized. Nevertheless, the certification by the IFT is a separate, national certification regime with its own specifications. Local on-site testing is sometimes necessary (depending on the technology), as well as a local representative. In addition, the identification of the product includes a numerical code issued by the authority as part of the certification process.
For the approval process for the Mexican market, a manufacturer must plan between ten to twelve weeks. For this, an IFT certification validity depends on the technology either provisional or permanent.
As CETECOM, we offer our customers all services required for market approval in Mexico.
