Access for the Jamaican market is through SMA certification.
The SMA certification
The market approval of products with radio technologies in Jamaica is granted by the Spectrum Management Authority (SMA).
The SMA certification is a national certification scheme, which, however, is based on the specifications of a CE marking according to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and an FCC certification. Accordingly, tests and certificates that have already been issued for CE marking and FCC certification can be reused for SMA certification. Furthermore, no testing in local laboratories in Jamaica is required.
SMA label and approval process for Jamaica
An SMA certification is permanently valid and the approval process takes between six and eight weeks in total. After successful approval, the manufacturer is obliged to place the SMA certification label on his product, whereby it must be ensured that the certification ID, which is assigned as part of the approval process, is also reproduced.
The complete certification process carried out by an accredited test laboratory
We are a DAkkS and FCC accredited test laboratory and therefore carry out the tests required for an SMA certification in our laboratories as part of our testing and certification services and then coordinate the entire certification process with the authorities. Our experienced certification team takes over the complete project management for you and thus ensures an efficient certification process and fast approval in Jamaica.
On our website you will find more information about our full product testing and certification services. You can also find further information on the RED specifications and the associated certification label, as well as many other approval regimes in our certification database CETECOM CERT.
