The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) informed about a change in the type approval process for cellular devices in Thailand.

The change affects the technical standard NBTC TS 1027-2560 for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) using technology Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) (Technical standard for LTE equipment).

What does this mean?

The LTE LAA/eLAA Band 46 will be opened and the NBTC requires a submission of a test report for all WWAN products using band 46. For the test reports, the NBTC also defined related test standards:

  • for LAA Band 46 (receiver only): ETSI TS 136 101 (3GPP TS 36.101) version 13.2.0 or newer.
  • for eLAA Band 46 (transmit and receive): ETSI TS 136 101 (3GPP TS 36.101) version 14.4.0 or newer.
