Thailand to Discontinue Approval of 2G/3G-Only Telecommunication Devices
NBTC sets June 30, 2025 deadline for import, inspection, and certification of legacy network equipment

Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has announced that, as of June 30, 2025, it will terminate the importation, type approval, and certification processes for telecommunication devices that support only 2G or 3G network technologies.
This regulatory change aligns with national efforts to phase out outdated mobile infrastructure and promote the deployment of advanced communication standards such as 4G and 5G.
