UAE: TRA allocates new frequencies for 5G networks

The range of 24.25 - 27.5 GHz has been allocated for the development of 5G networks.
United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates announced the allocation of a new frequency band, allowing telecom operators to expand the application of 5G, in accordance with the decision made at the World Radio communication Conference 2019 (WRC-19).

Frequencies in the millimeter wave range between 24.25 – 27.5 GHz have been allocated for the development of 5G networks.

The band will be allocated in two phases based on the equipment availability by the TRA. The first phase started on the 1st September, 2020, during which the 26.5 – 27.5 GHz frequency band was allocated to the operators. The second phase will start in the third quarter of 2021, through which 1 GHz bandwidth (25.5 – 27.5GHz) will be added to operators.
