Ghana’s NCA Implements Mandatory Sample Submission for All Type Approval Applications

Effective immediately, all equipment requiring approval from the National Communications Authority must include a sample with the application, marking a significant update to the 2015 guidelines.

In a recent update, Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has officially enforced a requirement for applicants to submit samples alongside their Type Approval applications. This provision, which has been outlined in the Type Approval Guidelines of Electronic Communications since May 26, 2015, under Section 9.10, was previously not mandatory.

Historically, only Short Range Devices (SRD) were exempt from this requirement, while cellular devices were required to submit samples. However, as per the latest directive, a sample is now required in all cases of Type Approval applications for all equipment subject to NCA approval. This new regulation is now fully enforced and will apply to all future applications.

The NCA’s move aims to streamline the approval process and ensure that all communication devices meet the country’s regulatory standards.
