Brazil – Anatel releases test requirements for 5G devices

The three acts apply to mobile phones, access terminal stations and base station transceivers using 5G technology.

The Brazil Telecommunication Agency (ANATEL) published Acts 3151, 3152 and 3153 with the test requirements for 5G technology and these acts apply to mobile phones, access terminal stations (referred to as “ETA” in Brazil) and base station transceivers using 5G technology.

ANATEL currently accepts the certification of 5G devices operating in the bands open for use by 3G and 4G products (with valid 5G test report) and will be publishing new acts/resolutions covering new frequency bands specific to 5G, which are expected to include the 2.3GHz and 3.5GHz bands.

  • Act 3151 – Technical requirements for the conformity assessment for the Access Terminal Station – ETA (all terminal devices using WWAN function, except mobile phones)
    • This act included the requirements for 5G NR technology and all actual technologies (2G/3G/LTE/CAT. M1/CAT. NB1).
  • Act 3152 – Technical requirements for the conformity assessment for mobile phones
    • This act included the requirements for 5G NR technology and all actual technologies (2G/3G/LTE/CAT. M1/CAT. NB1).
  • Act 3153 – Technical requirements for the assessment of conformity for the Base Radio Station (BRS)
    • This act includes the requirements for 5G NR technology and multi-technology (5G NR, E-UTRA, UTRA, GSM/EDGE e NB-IoT MSR).
