From now on, we can offer accredited testing in our EMC laboratory in Essen according to the latest version of DIN EN IEC 61547 for lighting equipment.

This version of the EMC standard establishes important requirements for the electromagnetic compatibility of lighting devices and systems and introduces several innovations that are significant for the development and approval of modern lighting systems.

What changes does this updated standard bring compared to the previous version?

  • Increasing modularity and flexibility of lighting systems
the ability to exchange modules and combine them with various non-fixed connected control gear
  • Definition of the test environment
no isolated testing of modules, but testing in a representative device environment (host)
  • Requirement for electrostatic discharge (ESD) and surge voltage
increased test values due to heightened demands for robustness and reliability of lighting systems
  • Introduction of specific ESD tests for normal operating conditions and equipment handling
to protect devices from electrostatic discharges—not only during manufacturing but also during use and maintenance
  • Removal of the specific surge voltage test from phase to earth
for compact fluorescent lamps up to 25 W: Simplification of testing requirements, easier access to compliance for manufacturers

The updated standard provides you as a manufacturer with clearer guidance in the development and testing of your products.

As an accredited testing laboratory, we will guide you through our testing processes and support you in meeting the new requirements for quick and effective market acceptance.
