Indonesia Issues New Technical Standards for 5G SS BWA Devices

KOMDIGI outlines requirements for fixed indoor broadband wireless access equipment based on IMT-2020

On June 24, 2025, Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (KOMDIGI) published KEPMEN KOMDIGI NOMOR 204 TAHUN 2025, setting out new technical standards for 5G Subscriber Station Broadband Wireless Access (SS BWA 5G) and 5G base station BWA devices, aligned with the IMT-2020 (5G) international standards.

Key requirements for SS BWA 5G devices include:

  • Operation in n50 (1432–1517 MHz) using TDD mode
  • Compliance with Safety, EMC, and RF standards, including technical specs and test methods
  • AC-powered only (batteries prohibited; AC/DC converters allowed)
  • Integrated, non-removable antenna without external connectors
  • Fixed indoor installation only (outdoor use prohibited)
  • Spurious emissions must not exceed –30 dBm/MHz in the 1518–1559 MHz band
