Safe testing for high-performance batteries – the cetecom advanced bunker

At a time when high-performance energy storage devices such as lithium-ion batteries are increasingly being used in vehicles, industrial plants and innovative applications, the demand for safety and reliability in product development is also increasing. With our bunke, we are setting standards for safe, realistic and high-precision battery testing.
EHL 7 – Maximum safety and flexibility
Our bunker fulfills the highest safety level, so that events from EHL 1 (deformation) to EHL 7 (explosion) are possible. In addition, the bunker offers around 200 m³ of test space and optimum conditions for testing and qualifying batteries – even in the high-energy range. Systems with an energy content of over 100 kWh, a weight of up to 2 tons (larger units on request) and dimensions of up to 2.5 x 2.2 meters can be tested under strictly controlled conditions.
Whether CO₂ atmosphere, water mist or with extraction via pocket carbon filters and gas scrubbers – the safety concept and the technical equipment of our bunker also enable demanding test scenarios with maximum protection for people and the environment.
Comprehensive measurement technology & remote access
Our modern measurement technology allows the precise recording of up to:
- 120 measurement channels for voltage, current, temperature and pressure (up to 100 S/s),
- 10 high-speed channels (up to 10 kS/s),
- 4 CAN FD channels,
- 2 HD videos and 2 IR videos that can be synchronized with the measurement data.
Thanks to remote functionality, tests can also be monitored and controlled remotely – efficiently and regardless of location.
Realistic propagation and safety tests
A particular focus is on the safe execution of propagation tests – i.e. the targeted triggering of critical states in order to analyze the behaviour of cells or entire modules in the event of a fault:
- Nail tests with variable direction, penetration depth and force
- Drilling tests with automatic depth control and speed control
- Overcharge tests with up to 340 A and intelligent detection of self-heating
- Automatic detection of thermal self-heating by DC/AC heating systems up to 1000 V / 10 kW
